I enjoy decorating home spaces. But more than that I enjoy decorating home spaces WITHOUT spending money. Here’s a recent example.
My friend Brenda had a design challenge with her mantle, fireplace and cable box. We fixed the mantle and fireplace (read about it here) but that left the cable box. The cable box wire comes down the left side of the fireplace (see it behind the dried flowers?) and then ends right there. The wire can’t be extended, so that meant the box had to be sitting atop something to keep it at the correct height without yanking the wires from the back of the box.
To fix the problem without spending any dough, we started looking around her house. Found another little table across the room that could be swapped with this one. Then I remembered the set of Time Inc. books that my hubby rescued curbside in our neighborhood this summer. After measuring, we realized that the set of books was the P E R F E C T height for the length of cord on the cable box.
Now Brenda can actually use the surface of this table for fun stuff like lamps and candles instead of ugly old electronics.
