Christmas Tree on the Porch

Well here it is December 30 and I’m just now putting up some Christmas decor photos. This month has been a chaotic blur of travel, kid activities, birthdays, and revolving illnesses passing through our house. So yes, Christmas is over but I still want to share a few photos of my two favorite Christmas spots in our house. (Also possibly the ONLY decorated spots in our house.)

We put the Christmas tree on the screened porch this year and I really love the Southern feeling I get seeing it out there. We barely decorated it at all…just strung some lights and threw on some gold balls that I’ve had for eons. Simple.

Nighttime was especially nice…

The entryway also got some attention. I reused the ornaments from last year.

The great thing is that with so little decorating it shouldn’t take any time at all to put everything back!

A Christmas Tree Room

Hello lovely Christmas Tree…

If you’re anything like us, your dining room gets very little use. So this year we decided to turn it into the Christmas Tree Room.

Yes, ON THE TABLE. I don’t believe in dining rooms that are useless 363 days a year.

I pay mortgage on that room you know?

Besides, my favorite part of our dining room table (Z Gallerie) is that gorgeous base. It’s usually hidden by all the chairs parked around the table waiting for NO ONE to sit in them for 363 days.

That’s a 6 foot tree on a 4 foot table.

Hubby took down the chandelier so we’d have space all the way to the ceiling for the centerpiece tree.

Making use of our incredible after-Christmas deals last year, we went with silver and ice blue this year.

Ribbon curls added that little touch of whimsy I was looking for.

(By the way, my walls are gray, although they show up purple in this next shot.)

Love the reflection of the tree in the Napoleon mirror. (An auction find that I will tell about in another post!)

So that’s our full-size Table Tree. If you’re still not a believer, may I help you?

1 – Small boys on scooters can’t run into the tree at high speeds. (This is my life people!)

2 – Dogs can’t drink from the water bucket and their tails can’t knock off ornaments

3 – Pregnant women are saved from crawling around on hands and knees to reach the base for watering

4 – It’s a productive use of otherwise wasted dining room space

5 – It’s CHEAPER than buying a 10-foot tree!

Here are some night shots, my favorite, when the tree just glows…

Happy tree decorating everyone!

I’ve linked up to the Christmas Tree Party over at ThriftyDecorChick.

Eye candy those amazing trees! Take a look….

Christmas Au Naturel

There is nothing like the sight of live evergreens in the house at Christmastime. They are fragrant, inviting, and a throwback to a time when all they had was the natural stuff to decorate with.

So here’s my 2010 Christmas inspiration with special thanks to Mother Nature for sharing a few boughs….
